Man, exciting stuff this week!

• I performed an “in and out” foley catheter procedure for the first time ever today! I was so nervous but the nurse said I did a really good job! :)

I was freaking out because we had barely just learned this skill in lab and we did NOT learn on a male (as my patient was). I realized that maintaining a sterile field is 100% times easier in a real setting than in labs -__- I mean you’re never going to forget your non-dominant hand is non-sterile when there’s iodine streaked all across your glove.

• I gave a flu vaccine, IM route! I gave a patient a flu shot before Kim, little miss pharm. HEHE.

The only thing I didn’t get to do this clinical semester was a SubQ injection…maybe next semester :(
